Planex Invest signed the Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership for the Development Potential of Varna – A Knowledge City
On August 12th, 2020, a Memorandum of Cooperation for the development of Varna as a Knowledge City was signed. Universities’ representatives and leading companies’ CEOs, including Planex Invest Ltd., attended the meeting hosted by the Mayor of Varna Ivan Portnich.
“Analysis of the Institute for Market Economics (IME) indicates not only Varna’s role in the national economy but also its potential for the development of education, science and innovation. Providing modern conditions for education will attract more young people from Bulgaria and the world”, said Eng. Plamen Andreev after signing of the Memorandum. It was endorsed with the signatures of the Mayor of Varna and the representatives of the academic and business circles.
All participants in the meeting acknowledged Varna as the largest and most future-oriented educational and economic centre in Northern Bulgaria with a constant influx of young and active people. Assessment of the positive dynamics in the local economy and the transition to higher added value were set forth, including the net inflows of foreign investments in the digital sphere.
“The projects Innovation Quarter and Educational Campus in Engineering and Science are genuine and feasible. They are also a chance to create an intelligent public environment integrating sports, culture and arts into the primary mission: education. Advancement of specialists in a modern educational and scientific environment is the best investment in the future and growth of the regional economy”, Eng. Plamen Andreev remarked.
The participants declared their commitment to join efforts for developing the city’s potential as a centre for integrated regional investments sustaining the vision of Varna as a Knowledge City. Token of goodwill for participation in joint projects and initiatives involving collaboration was conveyed.
“The start has been given; there are ideas, we will work to implement them. How? Are we expecting something in return?" Eng. Plamen Andreev raised questions of key importance. “We are getting involved as representatives of the business circles with our accumulated experience, with the management of projects and investments know-how, with the expertise to deliver a quality product. We expect these highly educated specialists to work in our companies and to develop the economy of Varna and Bulgaria. The presence of qualified professionals is another prerequisite for attracting investors and private equity in various industries.” Thus Andreev wrapped up his strategic view of the city’s future.
Representatives of the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov”, the Naval Academy “Nikola Vaptsarov”, the University of Economics, Technical University, Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”, Higher School of Management, High School of Mathematics “Dr. Petar Beron” supported the initiative. ScaleFocus and BULPROS joined as representatives of the information and communication technologies sector. Solvay Sodi JSC, Agropolychim JSC, Planex Invest Ltd., Fraport Twin Star Airport Management JSC Hydro- and Aerodynamics Centre, the Institute for Market Economics (IME) and Svilen Spasov, endorsed the initiative as representatives of industry, science and services.
